The revelation
After a scientific High School degree, I chose to enter the painting world. For more than 35 years now, including my training studies included, the Beaux-Arts in Lyon, Arts Décoratifs in the Arson's Villa in Nice and a PhD in Plastic Arts at the Sorbonne in Paris, I've been dedicating my life and work to painting.
The Commitment
Through all those years I have acquired know-how and skills in painting, drawing, carving as well as I have discovered new knowledges by reading through the Art History with multiple approaches such as literature, music, philosophy, architecture, applied arts, sculpture... I always choose intentionally and accurately the techniques (ink, drawing, oil, glazing, engraving, monotype), the supports (linen canvas, specific papers prepared by me), the various tools (pencils, lead, feathers, dry point, chisel), the colors (pigment, oil, ink, wax, watercolor, typographic ink) I use for my artworks.
The completion
My work finds its place in the soul of the different art movements of the Figuration. The question about the body and the face is fundamental in my opinion. I am leading researches inspired by the artworks from the Great Master of painting such as Rembrandt, Caravage, Da Vinci, Rubens, Titien… but also from modern artists such as Cy Twombly, Bacon, Giacometti, Alechinsky, Garouste, Anselm Kieffer…
The Fulfilment
For more than 20 years I have been exposing my artwork to an aware public through exhibitions in symbolic places (Abbey, Chapel, Art center, galleries). without proselytizing, I enjoy meeting neophytes, inquisitive about my will to make my art open/reachable to everyone.
My work is a daily quest which I follow between my studio's stonewalls, a jewel full of history in the heart of the Castle's courtyard in Lauris, a small village in the Luberon, nestled on a rocky spur overlooking the plain of the Durance in Provence
